DT 500 MAG: – If you could think of one image to reflect how you see yourself, what would that be?

 

MARIANN: – One image….That’s a tough one. I look at myself as independent, kind and, adventurous, + inquisitive. 

 

DT 500 MAG: – Where did you grow up?

 

MARIANN: – I grew up here and there… Moved around a lot as a kid. But my roots are in Ulsteinvik, a small place on an island outside of Ålesund. West coast of Norway. Veryyyyy beautiful, and the weather is often shitty. Haha !! Totally true! 

 

DT 500 MAG: – Do you recall any creative big-bang growing up? 

 

MARIANN: – I used to be bored growing up in a small village. So to have something to do, we had to start something for ourselves. I started my first band when I was 13-14 years old. I had a dream that one day I would play a gig in London; I think I was about 16 years or so… In 2002, I did. I also had a dream of touring the world. From 2003 I did with Surfers.

“My statement is: Life ain’t easy; it’s simple. If you believe in something, JUST-DO-IT-yourself. Everybody should follow their dream cause you’ll only have one ticket. Live a little, for fuck’s sake.”

 

DT 500 MAG: – What about your styling habit?

 

MARIANN: – I dress the way I want, and I don’t wear them for anybody else but myself. True that. I’m very interested in design and art + how other people act and dress. I like exciting and groundbreaking humans and people who take risks and live exciting life. 

 

DT 500 MAG: – Who is your typical fan?

 

MARIANN: – Hmm…. don’t know. Mostly girls and gays come to my show. Everybody is welcome to look at my “world”, though. I love my fans.

 

 

DT 500 MAG: – Punk rock girl, what is your agenda?

 

MARIANN: – 

 

“My mission is to rock and roll! “

 

DT 500 MAG: – Are you a rebel?

 

MARIANN: – I call my music sci-fi pop with some rock influences. My first album, HYPE, is a schizo mix and twist of different styles and emotions. I work with 2 unique producers, Tim Hawes and Obi Mhondera (Zebra 1), and they let me play around with other types. We work really good together as a team MARIANN ROSA. 

 

DT 500 MAG: – Surferosa vs. Marian?

 

MARIANN: – I don’t do SURFEROSA -songs. Only my new solo material. My new ME is more daring and experimental. 

 

DT 500 MAG: –  How wacko is our world?

 

MARIANN: – Well… the world can be cruel sometimes….. 

 

DT 500 MAG: –  Does it smell like a teen Oslo spirit?

 

MARIANN: – Oslo has a great vibe, and it’s growing into a stronger position! I prefer London as my perfect creative melting pot. Always something crazy happening in that city…well, still when I’m there… hehe !!
