No, It Is Not, Not Always
By this exhibition, we present the protagonist who is an indeterminate and an unclear character. However, it would be strange to demand clarity from people at a time like ours. But it is quite certain: our hero is a strange individual, an eccentric figure. The strangeness and eccentricity are more likely to harm than give the right to attention, especially when everyone is striving to unite particularities and find at least some common sense in the general muddle. Our discourse is: the eccentricity, in most cases, is particular and isolated, isn’t it? If you do not agree with this and thinking “No it is not” or “Not always ”. Just right here is starting our inspirational moment. Not only is the eccentric figure “Not always” or “ No it is not” the particularity and isolation, but on the contrary, it happens that the eccentric one, perhaps, carries a core of the whole existence at some points, but the rest of the people, are all, by some other kind of strangeness, for a time are breaking away from it.
NO, IT IS NOT; NOT ALWAYS!
Time: 7PM – 11PM
No, It Is Not; Not Always is an immersive multidisciplinary and a post-conceptual portraiture exhibition running by artists Andreas Rod and Arthur Sopin along with their project Downtown 500 Magazine. They will show their figurative photography from NYC, Berlin, and London with a performance art event that will amplify the narrative of the metamodernist manifesto. They are subverting their residency at By Other Means gallery into a factory and a club.
Prepare to be taken through the intersubjective realm of artists, performers, DJs and anti-heroes as you oscillate between past, present, and future, moving through freedom and captivity amidst destruction and reconstruction, projections and rejections. No, It Is Not; Not Always aims to converge the dichotomies, divergences, and differences that persist, and celebrate their multifaceted diversity under one metamodernist narrative – a metaphorical collage of experiences and stimuli that explores the liminality of personality, queerness, and identity.
If this still sounds delusional or fragmented and if you are still in doubt, thinking “ NO, IT IS NOT ” NOT ALWAYS ” then we welcome you to join us and experience it for yourself!
The artists from DT500MAG (www.downtown500magazine.com ) together with featured artists to be announced await for an evening of art, performances, and drinks at the private view on Friday 9th of March at 7PM.
Downtown 500 Magazine is the post-conceptual portraiture and artisan studio founded by Creative Director Arthur Sopin and Photographer Andreas Rod that aims to bridge the narratives of creative direction and contemporary photography. Together, they bring the expertise of more than ten years of work in the fields of photography, creative direction, art and media production that culminated in the development of their metamodernist approach.
