DOWNTOWN 500 MAGAZINE IS FIRSTLY INSPIRED BY THE VILLAGE EYE, A FANZINE, AND THE FREE CREATIVES IN NEW YORK CITY IN THE EARLY 80’S.
Downtown 500 Magazine is about the intimate stories of uncertain and eccentric individuals who celebrate the collective inventiveness and freedom that the seemingly simple act of being different provides. The project is a historical and creative context for the experience of eccentricity and the great notion of the future where self-expression and free will is not just celebrated but actively encouraged.
DT500 mag hosted and executed a spectacular Private View, drawing a large number of people, transforming the gallery space into an immersive art installation/ happening, and a fully functional creative factory, including 4 performance artist, 3 DJs, host a solo photography exhibition and producing an art movie a posteriori.
The short film NO IT IS NOT NOT ALWAYS. THE SELF FEAR was selected as a finalist at the DYSPLA Moving Image Festival, at The Crypt Gallery, London. from 15th-18th March 2018. It is the very same movie that you are about to see. The exhibition called No, It Is Not; Not Always is a multidisciplinary and post-conceptual portraiture exhibition with figurative photography from NYC, Berlin, and London, along with a metamodernist narrative.
