/about-dt500-magazine/ /about/
Founded in New York in 2013 and based in London since 2016, DT500 Magazine is an independent cultural publication covering film, contemporary culture, the creative industries and public life.
Established by Arthur Sopin and Andreas Rød, DT500 combines critical journalism, visual storytelling and strategic cultural insight. Our editorial approach is informed by a decade of work across the UK, Northern Europe and NYC, with a particular focus on independent cinema, emerging talent and influential cultural conversations.
We provide accredited coverage of major festivals, exhibitions and industry events, delivering reviews, interviews, features and reportage that connect audiences with the ideas, people and works shaping contemporary culture.
Arthur Sopin is a writer, editor and creative producer, and an MA alumnus of the University of the Arts London. His work focuses on cultural analysis, public discourse and narrative strategy across the arts, media and creative industries. Through DT500, he has developed editorial projects, cultural initiatives and public-facing programmes that explore the relationship between culture, society and contemporary life.
Andreas Rød is a documentary photographer, creative director and visual storyteller, and an MA alumnus of the University of the Arts London, whose work has been exhibited internationally and has helped shape DT500’s distinctive visual identity since its inception. His practice combines documentary observation with a strong editorial sensibility, exploring themes of place, community and cultural change.
Today, DT500 collaborates with filmmakers, producers, publicists, cultural institutions and international festivals to deliver thoughtful editorial coverage and meaningful visibility for outstanding creative work.
We do not simply document culture. We provide context, critical perspective and enduring editorial value.

LOOKING FORWARD
DT500 is committed to editorial excellence, intellectual independence and cultural relevance.
As we expand our international presence, we continue to strengthen relationships with festivals, publicists, filmmakers, producers and cultural institutions while maintaining the highest standards of professional integrity.
Our objective is simple: to create work that informs, challenges and endures.
Intellectual Foundations
Every editorial project begins with a question.
Not simply what happened, but what it reveals.
The most consequential forces shaping society rarely emerge fully formed in headlines. They appear first as tensions, contradictions and unresolved questions. Culture often identifies these shifts before institutions recognise them and before public consensus emerges.
DT500 is founded on the belief that culture is not merely a reflection of society; it is one of the primary ways society understands itself.
Our perspective is shaped by traditions that place enquiry above certainty, judgement above reaction and curiosity above ideology. We are interested in how ideas acquire influence, how value is created and how societies navigate change.
This principle feels particularly relevant in an era shaped by artificial intelligence, algorithmic systems and synthetic media. As information becomes increasingly abundant, the challenge is no longer access to knowledge, but the capacity for discernment.
For this reason, we are less interested in prediction than interpretation; less interested in consensus than understanding.
The role of serious publishing is not simply to document events, but to illuminate the assumptions, values and narratives that shape them.
Because the most important question is rarely what society thinks.
It is why society thinks it.
