DT500: THE CONFESSION: Art, Identity, and Denim: Cacho Falcon’s Unique Narrative. NYC
Cacho Falcon built http://www.cachofalcon.com not only to showcase his art, but to give strangers somewhere to tell the stories they might never tell anyone else.
The response was immediate and unexpectedly intimate. Anonymous emails began arriving, filled with loss, hope, regret, desire and love. Falcon discovered that people were often willing to reveal their darkest experiences to a stranger — stories too difficult, private or painful to share elsewhere.
Those anonymous voices became part of his artistic vocabulary. Woven together with his own experiences, they evolved into a powerful body of drawings and paintings exploring memory, vulnerability, intimacy and the contradictions of being human.
What began as a website became an archive of human experience — and a new source of material for Falcon’s art.
