Independent Film, Culture & Industry Intelligence
Founded in New York in 2013 by Arthur Sopin and Andreas Rød, DT500 Magazine is an independent editorial platform of recognised standing, dedicated to independent film, contemporary culture, the creative industries and public life. Informed by ten years of sustained London-based practice and a distinctly European sensibility, we uphold the highest standards of critical enquiry, cultural stewardship and intellectual rigour.
Emerging from the fashion industry, where we established a distinguished photography studio before evolving it into an award-winning media bureau, we have cultivated a reputation as entrepreneurs, socialites and trusted insiders within the HNWI networks. We maintain longstanding relationships with celebrated personalities, discerning collectors, premier organisations including Frieze UK and London Fashion Week, leading model agencies, respected PR houses and select members of royal families.
Arthur Sopin — award-winning Writer, Editor, Creative Producer and Cultural Strategist — provides strategic leadership and editorial direction. An MA alumnus of the University of the Arts London, he brings over a decade of experience shaping cultural narratives across Europe with the precision, discretion and intellectual depth expected at the highest levels of the industry.
Andreas Rød — award-winning Documentary Photographer, Creative Director, Reviewer and Writer, an MA alumnus of the University of the Arts London, contributes exceptional visual eloquence and creative direction that has defined the magazine’s distinctive aesthetic from its inception.
We are reasserting our position at the forefront of the sector with renewed ambition and strengthened industry alliances. As accredited press for Raindance Film Festival, we are actively collaborating with leading international PR agents, producers nominated at Cannes and the Oscars, key participants from the Berlin Film Festival, and maintain a direct working relationship with Variety magazine’s PR, Sales and Marketing departments. These partnerships enable us to deliver credible, high-impact publicity opportunities in both print and digital formats.
Our unique integration of Writer, Editor and Strategist capabilities offers substantially greater strategic value than photography or coverage alone. We do not simply document cultural activity — we shape narratives, enhance positioning and deliver measurable industry impact with the authority and professionalism required by investors, cultural leaders and institutional stakeholders.

Intellectual Foundations
Every initiative of DT500 begins not with an answer, but with a question.
Not what happened? but what does it reveal?
The most consequential forces shaping society rarely announce themselves in headlines. They emerge first as tensions, contradictions and unanswered questions. What happens when technology advances faster than wisdom? Why do institutions struggle to adapt to cultural change? What assumptions about progress, creativity, identity and power are we carrying without noticing?
These are the questions that interest us.
DT500 is founded upon a simple editorial conviction: culture is not merely a reflection of society. It is one of the primary ways society understands itself. Long before political consensus forms, before markets adjust and before institutions respond, shifts in culture often reveal what is changing beneath the surface.
Our perspective is shaped by traditions that place enquiry above certainty, judgement above reaction and curiosity above ideology. We are interested in how ideas acquire influence, how value is created and how societies negotiate change.
This principle feels increasingly urgent in an age shaped by artificial intelligence, algorithmic systems and synthetic media. As information becomes abundant and certainty increasingly performative, the decisive advantage is no longer access to knowledge but the capacity for judgement. The challenge is not simply to know more, but to ask better questions.
For this reason, we are less interested in prediction than interpretation; less interested in consensus than understanding. We believe the role of serious publishing is not merely to document events, but to illuminate the assumptions, values and narratives that shape them.
Because the most important question is rarely what society thinks.
It is why society thinks it.
